Aeration
Aquatic Weed Technology can help you integrate aeration into your aquatic program for incredible results. High levels of fertilizer runoff and decomposing organic material can drastically reduce the oxygen levels in ponds and small lakes. Dissolved oxygen is one of the most important water qualities in lakes and ponds. Oxygen is essential for:
  • The survival of fish and other lake organisms
  • Aerobic bacteria to aid in the decomposition of dead plant and organic material
  • Proper water chemistry, inhibiting the release of nutrients from bottom sediment ..and reducing nuisance plant growth
A properly aerated pond provides the maximum habitat for fish, aiding their growth and reducing disease risk. Aeration also reduces algae growth and accelerates the decomposition of organic matter, thus reducing the build-up of "muck" on the pond bottom.

The two most common types of aeration systems are bottom diffusion (bubblers) and surface aeration (fountains). Bottom diffusion uses compressed air pumped into the water through a diffuser. Surface aerators pump water into the air creating a fountain-type appearance.

Aquatic Weed Technology can design, install and maintain an aeration system tailor made for your waterway. At season's end, we can perform a thorough inspection of your system. We'll clean it and perform any necessary repairs and routine maintenance. If necessary, we will remove your unit and store it in a climate-controlled warehouse. When your aerator is reinstalled in the spring, it will be in top working condition.
